Background: I come from a very broad background, which touches base with several aspects of the agriculture industry. Alongside my father and grandfather The Olson Ranch operates a 1,500 head feedlot and runs about 350 head of cows. The Olson family also raises and sells club calves annually at the fall sale. To meet the feeding demands of the feedlot cattle and cow herd I play a large role in the production and harvesting of several grains and forages. I am also employed at the SDSU Meat Lab.

Interests/Hobbies: Sports, Being Outside, Family, Working on the Farm, Family Gatherings, and Working with my horses.

I’m an Animal Science major in my first year at South Dakota State.  I grew up on a small farm south of Sanborn Minnesota, where my dad and I raise purebred Southdowns and Suffolks as well as some show lambs.  I spend much of my time working sheep or showing them through 4-H and FFA.  I also have a strong interest in livestock judging.  When I was on the 4-H team I had the opportunity to judge at Louisville, Denver, and Kansas City.

I enjoy my life in AGR in the past three years; it was a great experience living with a lot different brothers. AGR is a great place to build friendship and lean about a lot things in life, in the past three years, we had a lot fun together, we had a lot pressure together, and we had a lot memory together. Be an AGR is my most valuable experience so far, I think anyone who is eligible should come to join us, and try to live in the house as long as you can.

My major is Construction Management but don’t hold that against me, I have a lot of agriculture in me.  I grew up on a farm two mile east of Jasper, Minnesota.   My family use to milk cows, but now we just raise Holstein dairy calves and farm around 4 hundred acres of land.  And something interesting about me would have to be that I have had 6 different set of stitches and no broken bones.
